While there are some slightly higher costs to living in Sydney, it is possible to study and enjoy this city on a student budget. In less than two hours by train you can get to Coalcliff Station and walk to the Sea Cliff Bridge, and as the name suggests, walk along a 665m bridge which goes out over the water away from the rock face.
